Trend Report

So now the mince pies have been firmly put away for another year, the arrival of February's spanking new Harpers Bazaar has pulled me out of my post-Christmas slump. Their sparkling trend report is packed full of Studio 54 glamour, hard-hitting biker girls, bold colour blocking and languid tailoring. I shall unfortunately be staying well clear of the fringed Prairie looks channelled by Roberto Cavalli, Gucci and alike, but have fallen head over heels for the balletic designs found at ChloĆ©, Lanvin and Chanel. Not only is this a irresistibly pretty trend, it also falls hand in hand with the forthcoming release of Darren Aronofsky’s much anticipated film, Black Swan. Starring an enviably petite Natalie Portman, the film tells the psychological story of a young ballerina who becomes entangled in the bitter rivalry between her co-star Mila Kunis. With costumes designed by Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy, this darkly romantic fairytale promises to be as visually beautiful as the story itself. I will be on tenterhooks until its release - until then, enjoy the sneak peek below.
