Barbie the career woman

I was never allowed a Barbie as my mum claimed they were completely unrepresentative of real women and would lead me to do something as vacuous as well, fashion I suppose. Good work there mum. You may however be surprised to hear that Barbie has held down a whopping 125 jobs in her life. Her most impressive being a brief stint as an astronaut. You go girl! Here is Barbie back in 1986 doing it for the girls.

The new urban cool

Originally worn in the Arctic to battle bitterly cold conditions, the ever functional parka has since become fall’s chicest coverup of choice. The durability of this classic design was popular with the Mod movement of the ‘50s and ‘60s whilst serving a more practical purpose within the US military. Fast forward to the modern day and the parka is back, reimagined for fall in a versatile mix of sassy sophistication and sports-couture designs. ChloĆ© opted for easy elegance with decadently fur-trimmed hoods worn open over caramel jersey dresses, whilst Bottega Veneta took a grungier approach with sporty-luxe drawstring coverups. So how to work the parka now? Throw it on over everything from bodycon dresses to softly tailored separates for an instant dose of new-season attitude.

Posen moves to Paris

Today industry favourite Zac Posen has announced that a move to gay Paris may be on the cards for the fashion powerhouse. He believes that his clothes are more respected within European shores where they understand him better. “It's about the work I do, and who wears the clothes " says Zac. I think the NYC crowd may have just been given the cold shoulder. Ouch!
